Creative Proteomics has developed a reliable and reproducible method using highly sensitive LC-MS/MS method for the rapid identification and quantification of Neurofurans (nFs) in different sample types, which can satisfy the needs of academic and industrial study in your lab.
Neurofurans (nFs) are 22-carbon compounds formed nonenzymatically by free radical mediated peroxidation of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), an ω-3 essential fatty acid. The neurofurans are similar to the isofurans and are formed under similar conditions of oxidative stress, containing a substituted tetrahydrofuran ring. The fact that nFs are readily detectable in normal brain from animals at concentrations significantly higher than other classes of isoeicosanoids. Some studies demonstrated that the levels of nFs are elevated in the brain cortex of a mouse model of Alzheimer disease. Measurement of the nFs may ultimately prove useful in diagnosis, timing, and selection of dose in the treatment and chemoprevention of neurodegenerative disease.
The combination of MS instrument and liquid chromatography (LC) can effectively separate target lipid molecules from complex samples. High-quality and accurate lipid level analysis helps to study the changes in the content of nFs under physiological and other pathological conditions, and accelerate the analysis of biomarkers and related disease mechanisms.
