Creative Proteomics has developed a reliable and reproducible method using highly sensitive LC-MS/MS method for the rapid identification and quantification of CerEOP in skin sample, which can satisfy the needs of academic and industrial study in your lab.
Omega-hydroxy fatty acids [EO] Phytosphingosine [P] Ceramides (CerEOP or EOP) are a subclass of acylceramides, which are composed of phytosphingosine and fatty acids. The role of CerEOP is mainly related to human skin, and they mainly achieve structural purposes. CerEOP is related to the formation of the lamellar phase of the epidermal barrier to prevent transdermal water loss, while also protecting the environment. Distortion of skin ceramide distribution can cause or contribute to skin conditions. Generally speaking, decreased omega hydroxyceramide levels are associated with dry skin and psoriasis.
Tape stripping is an almost non-invasive method with the benefits of controlling the sampling depth and collecting comparable sample amounts. This enables collecting a high number of samples and allows screening and biomarker studies, increasing much needed statistical validity of results and conclusions. CerEOP samples, collected by tape stripping of human skin, were analyzed by highly sensitive LC-MS/MS method in Creative Proteomics.
